Indian actress Shilpa Shetty took many people by surprise when she went into the Big Brother house alongside a comparatively rag-tag band of C-listers in early 2007. Stating in her entrance interview that she simply wanted to emerge with her self-respect and dignity intact, nobody could have guessed how both would be put to the test.
She kept her head up in the face of some spiteful bullying from the likes of Jade Goody and Jo O'Meara and managed to deal with events gracefully and with a level head, even forgiving the girls for their quite shameful behaviour and refusing to milk her victimization. Smart, elegant, beautiful and classy: Shilpa, we salute you.
