Is everyone missing the point?!?! - 2007/01/18 21:39 I think everyone here is missing the point.

In every series of Big brother there are always arguments. most alot bigger than this, but because this women is Indian its classed as a racist attack.

it goes back to the fact that in the uk we now have this if a white person assaults a black person its racist. though if a black person was to attack a white person its just assault.

she herself does not feel its racist.

so why make such a big deal of it. this is TV!!. she knew the risks.

Lets face it people. she is completely up herself and does believe herself to be better than most in that house.

and who started this whole argument. YES thats right it was Shilpa. she wouldn't drop the whole stock cube thing. THEN lied about it. claiming she only ordered the cubes. this is just simply not true.

i hate this whole jumping on the band wagon thing so many people do when they really have no clue what there talking about.

Finally. all this ranting about racism is just increasing the viewings for BB and in turn making more money for Channel 4. so do you think they really care, no they welcome all this publicity. so what is this really going to achieve?

Historically [rightly or wrongly] we know that any thing that happens to a famous person gets more attention then a nobody in the street. A guy was attacked with a hammer and there is no reaction about racism there. However there is a big reaction to what is happening to a celebrity.
So what do we do? Turn a blind eye because we did not cover the cover hammer attack?
NO.
We have an opportunity now to take advantage of this situation and bring forward the race abuse and bullying so that attacks like that of the hammer attack will never happen again.
Abuse by Black or White must be discussed and is being done. So yes some good HOPEFULLY will come out of it. Take advantage of this and teach the world to live in peace rather then brush this under the carpet. Don’t belittle this situation. Make a positive attack on love and harmony.

Look whoever started anything there is a dignified way to tackle it and not like the witch way we saw. So you liked that then? No you didn’t. So drop the attack on Shilpa and teach Jade copycats some manners.
THIS IS NOT HOW SOLVE problems.

agree with this.

C4 is great. We all know this was planned and they have done nothing more then what they have since the first BB. This time its just a bit closer to home and we don’t like it.
Sabaz had the same treatment but we could not identify with him. Shameful but like I said firstly, celebrity are CLOSER many peoples hearts.
This is the time to resolve all differences.
The time is now to speak against bullying.
Make bullying history.

Re:Is everyone missing the point?!?! - 2007/01/19 19:45 Well said friday ! Finaly someone thinking before opening mouth and let fingers walk !
I could not have said it better
Nothing changed from the middle ages has it ?
People still heckle , no matter what without thinking , shame to them and CH 4!
Shilpa and Jade a equaly guilty , but Jade " looks" white ( as she herself is of mixed race ) and Shilpa is dark skinned , everyone screems racism , and Jade accused of bringing shame to the country
But hey , what about the youth of today ? dont they all talk like Jade , or even worse?
its even on TV with programs like the Katherine Tate Show , ( its emberasing , not funny )
Jet have a go at Jade Goody ?just goes to show to what kind of educated people TV stations cater for yet we all have to pay same TV lisence and dont even watch them !
as someone who used to be exited at the prospect of moving and living in UK 20 years ago , I now feel emberrasst to say I live here and at times wish I could turn the clock back
What happend to that proud countrythe UK once used to be?
What happend to the education engish children were so proud of once?

Re:Is everyone missing the point?!?! - 2007/01/21 13:55 Has anyone thought what all of this is going to do to Shilpa's career? From being relatively unknown amongst the white community (unless they watch Bollywood films) she is now a household name. Amazing publicity and all done within a couple of weeks.
Another point I wanted to clarify.. Channel4 have come under a lot of protest for failing to protect Shilpa. From what I've seen they were constantly taking her into the diary room and asking her feelings about what was happening and on numerous occasions she was saying it was "cool"and she was ok. She's made of tougher stuff than a lot of other people from their comments.
I am not saying I condone the bullying.. I don't.
