Racism in Britain: Shilpa is right - 2007/01/18 11:47 Hi guys, if you think the racist bullying Shilpa is enduring is unique in Britain, then think again. As Shilpa said, "I'm representing my country. Is that what today's UK is? It's scary. It's quite a shame actually”. Many English people (no matter what colour, religion etc) are ashamed that this is happening. What we and the country don't need is "non white" people as you put it, trying to paint a terrible picture....yes England has racist elements, name me a country that doesn't! Yes this is bang out of order but you are not helping matters.....and besides, are you sure that racism is only limited to white people against "non-white" people????

Grow up and stop spending your sad little life trawling through the internet to find examples of racism, you are no better than Jade Goody.

What you could do is try to find examples of intergration and harmony...but on the other hand, this isn't sensationalist enough for you is it.

1) Why do you find it such a threat to highlight the reality of British society? By your reasoning we can't report or discuss any issue of social significance that impinges upon the life’s of potentially millions of people in the United Kingdom.

2) The links are taken from the following website: http://www.irr.org.uk/violence/
This is the Institute of Race Relations (IRR). It examines, from both policy and academic angles, the state and quality of race relations in the UK. So, the IRR must also have 'sad little life' as you put it.

As i said, you are as bad as Jade Goody.

Racism is wrong but please don't try and provoke like minded people to jump on the bandwagon and don't expect the rest of the country to believe that only "non-white" people are the victims of racism. I have been the victim of racism and have friend's that have also been victims, now I'm not going to disclose whether i am white or non white as you so hilariously put it, what i will say is that racism exists and you are a shining example of it in it's purest form.

You do nothing to address either of my two points in response to your initial posting. I can also accuse you of being as bad as Jade Goody for your inability to address what are blatant (and I suggest you consult the academic literature on this) structural, cultural and symbolic modes of racism qua marginalisation and exclusion. It seems that you simply reproduce hegemonic discourses of racism by refusing to address them. And, when someone does it elicits a strong, rather personalised attack from someone like yourself. Your problem, not mine.

Racism is wrong and fighting racism with racism as you have tried on here is even worse.

I accept people for who they are, "white" or "non-white" (ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha , sorry, just wetting myself again!!!) doesn't come into it with me although it clearly does with you, how can splitting this country into two skin coloured groups really help matters?

The fact is that everyone that lives in this country should primarily embrace all aspects of the country's way of life, just as much as this country should embrace anyone who lives here or chooses to visit. colour or anything else should not come into it.....although it's sad to see from your posts that you disagree!
